Beware! This Amazon, Flipkart Part-Time WFH SMS Is A Fraud

NEW DELHI: The current WhatsApp scam that is going around has a lot to do with work from home (WFH) jobs. A message offering part-time work to WhatsApp users has gone viral. Read our report before you get too enthusiastic about the lucrative offers.

The new cyber fraud scheme steals money from bank accounts by impersonating well-known online retailers.

According to senior law enforcement officials, they have recently received reports from victims who have lost money to fraudsters who send bulk SMSes and WhatsApp messages with links claiming there is a part-time job opportunity with items such as Amazon and Flipkart.

Many users in India have received messages from unknown numbers. The message offers a part-time job that pays up to Rs 3000 per day for only 30 minutes of effort each day. The notification further states that new users will receive Rs 50 for applying for the job. A link has been provided below the message that, if activated, may result in the loss of money, sensitive data, and other information.

So, once you receive such SMS, the first thing you should do is ignore them and block the sender. Messages are frequently too wonderful to be true. You’ll also note that the language is improper and the sentences are haphazardly made.

This should be enough to convince you that the message was not sent by any authorised or reliable contacts. Scammers, on the other hand, will sometimes pose as representatives of well-known companies in order to deceive unsuspecting users. As a result, it is critical to verify before clicking on any such links.

Once you’ve blocked such connections, it’s always a good idea to report them to police so that other people don’t fall victim to the scam.
