Cyber Attack On MIDC: Hackers Demand Rs 500 Extortion

Mumbai: In yet another massive cyber attack that has jolted an important institution in Mumbai, The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation’s (MIDC) server was allegedly hacked on Tuesday. According to reports, the hacker is trying to extort Rs 500 crores.

According to sources, MIDC’s 16 regional offices were forced to close their doors after the server was hacked. Reports also mentioned that the unknown hackers have threatened to remove all of the data and kill the server unless money is paid to them.

On an online framework, all information about industrial estates, entrepreneurs, government elements, and various MIDC schemes is open. Since last Monday, the whole project has come to a halt. A virus was discovered in the computer after it was started in MIDC. As a consequence, there is a chance of data loss if you use this device. As a result, MIDC has recommended that no computers be turned on in any offices.

There’s no word yet about whether the hackers are from inside the country or from elsewhere. It has been learned that an investigation into their disappearance is underway.

Earlier on October 12, 2020, power outage in Mumbai had suggested a possible cyber attack on the city’s electrical infrastructure with intent to disrupt power supply.
