Enforcement Directorate Employee Held By CBI In Bribery Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) of Enforcement Directorate posted in Bengaluru office along with his accomplice for allegedly taking bribe by posing as investigating officer and conducting fake raids.

According to the officials, they received a complaint in which it was alleged that D Chennakeshavulu,  MTS, Enforcement Directorate Office approached the complainant at a hotel in Bengaluru and introduced him as an Enforcement Officer and told him that he needed to search his house in the light of several complaints against him.

The complainant also alleged that D Chennakeshavulu  and his associates carried out search at complainant’s house and demanded an amount of Rs 2 crore to close the complaints against him.

On D Chennakeshavulu’s advice complainant allegedly delivered an amount of Rs 6 lakh to the private person. It was further alleged that the complainant received another call on next day and was instructed to hand over the remaining money to a person waiting at the designated place.

The complainant met the person and insisted for the presence of ED official to settle the matter. Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused and the private person by CBI following which they were arrested.

Both the arrested accused were on Monday were produced before the competent court, Bengaluru and remanded to five days police custody.
