Fact Check: Truth Behind RBI Offering Rs 4.62 Cr In Return For Rs 12,500, See PIB’s Warning

NEW DELHI: Many people have recently claimed to have received a message from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) claiming that they can earn Rs 4.62 crore for just Rs 12,500. However, it is vital to highlight that this is a scam message, and the RBI has made no such claims. Instead, the scammers have impersonated the government’s organisation in order to defraud individuals.

The RBI has not made any such statements, according to the government’s PIB Fact Check team, and fraudsters have impersonated the government’s organisation in order to defraud individuals.

The fraudsters have requested customers to pay Rs 12,500 and have promised to offer Rs 4.62 crore in return, according to PIB’s tweet. On the phoney website, the scammers have also used the image of RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.

The fraudster claims to work for the RBI, according to the PIB tweet. On the bogus website, they have also placed a photo of RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.

They say that the amount will be transferred within 30 minutes by a “online banking manager.”

The PIB Fact Check said, “Do not fall for such #FAKE permission letters or schemes in the name of RBI.”

RBI on its website has declared that it never contacts the public via unsolicited phone calls or emails asking for money or any other type of personal information. The Reserve Bank does not maintain/give money/foreign currency or any other type of funds to individual or opens accounts for/in the name of individuals. The Reserve Bank has urged the public to remain alert and not to fall prey to frauds or scams perpetrated by individuals who impersonate to be employees of the Reserve Bank of India.
