Fight Against Cybercrime: US Unites With 30 Countries To Counter Ransomware & Cryptocurrency Crime

President Joe Biden has announced that the US is forming a group of nations to combat cybercrime, including the use of cryptocurrencies for harmful purposes.

According to a White House statement, Biden says the US will join forces with 30 other countries, including NATO and Group of Seven (G7) allies, to combat bad actors in the internet and digital asset arena.

In the statement White House said this month, the United States will bring together 30 countries to strengthen our cooperation in countering cybercrime, strengthening law enforcement work, combating the unlawful use of Bitcoin, and diplomatically engaging on these problems.

US is forming a coalition of countries to fight for and invest in reliable 5G technology, as well as to improve the security of our supply chains.

White House said it also brought the entire force of our expertise to bear on thwarting harmful cyber activities, including addressing the dangers and opportunities presented by new technologies such as quantum computing and artificial intelligence.

The President also encourages all Americans and businesses in the United States to take the necessary precautions to prevent becoming victims of cybercrime.

Biden said that every American and every American enterprise must join the federal government in these endeavours.

We must secure our digital doors — for example, by encrypting data and employing multifactor authentication – and we must develop technology safely by design, allowing consumers to understand the dangers associated with the products they purchase.

The statement comes after the White House issued an executive order and a memorandum to protect key US infrastructure from cyber threats in May and July, respectively.
