Job Fraud Soar: Cyberabad Police Alerts Job Seekers To Check Authenticity

HYDERABAD: With an increase in job fraud cases, the most recent being work from home offer frauds, the Cyberabad Police have warned job seekers and young people to be vigilant and informed about fraudsters’ tactics.

The Cyberabad Cyber Cell has received several complaints about Work from Home job offer scams.

“Commonly several unemployed youths pay exorbitant fees in the hope of securing jobs in government services or the corporate sector. Taking advantage of the innocence of these unemployed youth, fraudsters set up fictitious companies, post attractive advertisements, and attract people,” Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar told the media. He added that the fraudsters would vanish after collecting money as a caution deposit.

According to the Cybercrime Police, the majority of complaints were about fake foreign job visas, Group I and II job frauds, data warehousing jobs, railway jobs, and so on.

“If we are vigilant, we can easily detect a scam and save ourselves from being duped. We should look into whether the amount is insisted in cash or whether receipts are issued for money given, as well as appointment letters that are not signed or stamped by the organisations involved,” Sajjanar said.

It is preferable to confirm the authenticity of the appointment order or interview call letter with the relevant department. He went on to say that all appointments are made solely on merit.

According to officials, several foreign job consultancies were found to be operating without a certificate from the Protector General of Immigrants in New Delhi. In some cases, visas are handed over at the airport prior to departure for foreign countries, or the agent refuses to show them beforehand. When you ask them certain questions, they become agitated.
