National Cyber Security Drive: NCIIPC Seeks Ethical Hackers for Penetration Testing

The National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre (NCIIPC) has launched a new initiative aimed at bolstering the security of India’s critical information infrastructure (CII). The NCIIPC, a specialized unit of the National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO), is inviting expert penetration testers, cybersecurity researchers, and ethical hackers to participate in a rigorous testing exercise.

This program calls for volunteers to engage in a 10 to 20-day exercise that focuses on identifying vulnerabilities within CIIs in a controlled environment, either as individuals or in teams. This is a significant opportunity for professionals in the cybersecurity field to contribute to national security and also to demonstrate their expertise in a real-world scenario.

Participants in the scheme stand to gain significant rewards, with the NCIIPC offering up to Rs. 10 lakhs, along with commendation certificates based on the severity and impact of the vulnerabilities uncovered. Moreover, the NCIIPC will cover necessary expenses such as travel, boarding, and lodging during the course of the exercise, ensuring that participants can focus fully on the task at hand without financial burden.

Those interested in participating are required to express their willingness to enroll by emailing their details, including their name, email ID, and mobile number, to cii.assessment@nciipc.gov.in. The initiative is open to individuals and teams that meet the expert criteria set by the NCIIPC.

The NCIIPC’s proactive approach through this scheme is expected to significantly enhance the resilience of India’s critical information infrastructure against cyber threats. By engaging with the cybersecurity community in this manner, the NCIIPC is fostering a collaborative environment where knowledge and skills are leveraged to protect national interests in cyberspace. This initiative is a testament to the government’s commitment to cybersecurity and the protection of national assets.
