Noida Gets Dedicated Helpline To Fight Cyber Crime & Drugs Menace

NOIDA: The Noida Police Department has released two helpline numbers in order to streamline the complaint redressal system and maintain cyber safety and drugs control. Public can now call 0120-4846100 to report any cyber fraud and 0120-4846101 to provide information on narcotics cases.

The helplines will be managed by an assistant commissioner of police and will be available round the clock from the police commissioner’s campus in Sector 108.

The cyber helpline will assist in the investigation of cases involving financial and non-financial crimes, as well as corporate conflicts. According to police commissioner Laxmi Singh, cyber crimes have surged in Noida and Greater Noida, and a dedicated helpline number is urgently needed.

“In Gautam Budh Nagar, approximately 8,000 cybercrime instances were registered last year. Some cases have been resolved, while others are still pending. In such circumstances, people are unsure who to call and visit local stations, where they are routed to the cyber cell. This helpline number will serve as a one-stop shop for all such issues. We will immediately initiate an investigation and file FIRs,” she said.

Singh explained that the district’s emphasis on cybercrime is immense as many private firms, institutions, and colleges are based here. She also asked authorities to thoroughly investigate all such incidents and submit results in a timely manner.

According to the police commissioner, the central government has a helpline number – 1930 – for cyber-related matters. Financial cybercrime should be notified as soon as possible for early intervention so that the suspicious account can be frozen.

“The Central government operates a helpline number, 1930, but most people are unaware of it. We will also publicise the helpline number and encourage people to call us directly in such circumstances,” she said.

Police investigations have also revealed that individuals operating from other states are responsible for some cybercrimes. A proper coordinated investigation is launched with local police of states like Bihar, West Bengal, and Chhattisgarh to investigate and resolve such crimes.
