A Gujarat based ‘serial cyber stalker’ was arrested by Mumbai police for allegedly hacking Instagram of minor girls and women and then blackmail them to make their obscene video and send him.

According to the police, accused has been identified as 20-year-old, class XII dropout Alfaz Anwar Ali Zamani, who is a resident of Mahua in Bhavnagar district. He had created fake Instagram accounts posing as a girl, which he misused to befriend his victims. The police recovered four mobile phones from him. He had at least 17 Instagram accounts and his phones had over 700 photos of women and girls.

DCP Rashmi Karandikar told the Times of India that they launched an investigation after receiving complaints from the parents of seven girls on September 4.

“During the course of interrogation, the accused confessed to hacking social media accounts of girls. The man was operating 17 fake Instagram accounts using the name of girls. As per the records seized from his mobile phones, the accused has contacted over 800 girls and got photos of 700 of them. He always targeted minor girls,” the report quoted a police officer as saying.
