1. Cyber Scam Wipes Out Rs 71 Lakh from Man’s Account in Bengaluru
The South Cybercrime, Economic Offences, and Narcotics (CEN) police have registered a case against a finance company for allegedly defrauding a 34-year-old man of Rs 71 lakh. The victim was lured through an Instagram post and transferred the amount in multiple installments to the company’s bank account. Investigations are ongoing.
2. West Delhi Cyber Fraud: Rs 9 Crore Frozen, Rs 2 Crore Restored to Victims
Delhi’s cyber police froze Rs 9.12 crore in fraudulent transactions in 2024, with Rs 1.89 crore returned to victims in the West district. The cyber police station resolved 8,000 complaints, arrested 93 individuals, and guided victims on reclaiming stolen funds, minimizing financial losses, said DCP.

3. Dehradun Job Scam: Cyber Fraudsters Nabbed After Duping Rs 23 Lakh
Two cyber fraudsters were arrested in Delhi for duping a Dehradun resident of Rs 23 lakh via fake job offers. Victims were tricked through WhatsApp calls into paying for interviews, visas, and other charges. Police recovered 17 mobile phones, laptops, and SIM cards, uncovering links to Dubai, China, and Pakistan.
4. Pan-India Cyber Fraud: Two Arrested in Rs 12-Crore Scam
Andhra Pradesh police arrested two cybercriminals for transferring Rs 74 lakh from a retired professor’s account after a money laundering scam. The gang, linked to Rs 12.3 crore fraud across eight states, used multiple accounts. Police froze Rs 17.9 lakh, seized Rs 7 lakh cash, and continue pursuing the prime suspects still at large.
5. Goregaon Cyber Scam: 74-Year-Old Mumbai Woman Loses Rs 25 Lakh
In Goregaon East, a 74-year-old woman lost Rs 25 lakh to cybercriminals who threatened her with arrest in a fake money laundering case. Posing as officials, the fraudsters kept her trapped for 10 days. The North Region Cyber Cell has registered a case and launched an investigation to track the culprits.

6. Myanmar Junta Implements Harsh New Cybersecurity Law
Myanmar’s military junta has enacted a repressive Cybersecurity Law to curb dissent amid civil war. The law criminalizes unauthorized VPN use, imposes prison terms for online activities deemed “inappropriate,” and extends penalties to exiled citizens. Critics warn it stifles dissent, censors expression, and strengthens the junta’s grip on communication channels.
7. Florida Attorney General Halts Six Cyber Fraud Operations

8. Fake Ethereum Tool on NPM Installs Quasar RAT Malware
Cybersecurity researchers uncovered a malicious NPM package, “ethereumvulncontracthandler,” that installs Quasar RAT on developers’ systems. Disguised as an Ethereum vulnerability scanner, it deploys malware via obfuscated scripts and registry changes. Experts warn of risks to private keys and sensitive data, urging vigilance when using unverified third-party code.
9. LDAPNightmare Exploit Causes LSASS Crashes, Domain Controller Reboots
A proof-of-concept exploit, LDAPNightmare, targets CVE-2024-49113, a patched Windows LDAP flaw causing denial-of-service by crashing LSASS. Researchers warn it can also enable remote code execution (CVE-2024-49112) with crafted CLDAP packets.
