Cyber scammers duped a retired bank manager in Pune of Rs 2.22 crore by luring her into buying multiple insurance policies with false promises of high maturity returns. They later extorted additional funds, citing GST, TDS, transaction fees, and other charges. Authorities are investigating the elaborate fraud scheme.

4. Man Falls Victim to Rs 28 Lakh Cyber Scam
A private employee lost Rs 28 lakh to a cyber fraud involving fake investments in Boeing shares. Lured by promises of 200% returns, the victim initially invested Rs 4 lakh, followed by Rs 20 lakh, and paid additional “taxes” under pressure. Rachakonda Cybercrime is investigating the scam involving impersonators.
5. Cyber Cell Blocks 157 Websites, Including 61 Linked to Gambling
The Goa Cyber Crime Cell blocked 157 websites, including 61 gambling platforms, in two months to curb scams and offensive content. Cyber Crime SP Rahul Gupta stated the action was taken under the IT Act and BNSS provisions to combat fraud and protect individuals. Investigations into these sites are ongoing.
