The sudden spike in search volume and traffic on the website also invited cybercriminals who allegedly hacked the website causing inconvenience to many.

It was on Wednesday, the HSRP supplier’s website – Rosmerta Safety System was hacked, which caused problems in booking number of high-security registration plates and colour coded stickers. The company claims that the issue has been resolved and there has been no data breach.

This issue was resolved in the evening on the same day. This problem lasted for 5 hours. The company had deactivated its website and engaged an IT expert team to restore it.

The company has filed a police complaint filed with Delhi police cyber cell.

A spokesperson of HSRP manufacturer said, “A DDOS (Distributed Denial-of-Service) attempt was observed on www.bookmyhsrp.com and our domain name IP was mapped for compromise by unauthorised attempt through international traffic with virtual multiple counts hitting the domain creating false overloading of high volume traffic. No data breach has happened in this event. In addition, our IT team has since enhanced security of all web assets.”

Bookmyhsrp.com has been officially authorized by the governments to allow vehicle owners to book HSRP,colour-coded sticker, and fix a slot with the dealership.  It is the only website for motorists in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh to book HSRP and colour-coded stickers.
