Nagpur’s Rs 837 crore Maharashtra cyber project, initiated by DyCM Devendra Fadnavis, will be operational by July to combat rising cyber-crime. The project includes advanced technologies, a Control and Command Center (CERT, and a data centre, aiming to protect citizens and aid in quick recovery of lost funds.

2. Chinese and Pakistani Cyber Attacks Target Kerala’s Cooperative Banks, Hospitals, and Chit Funds
Cyber-attacks targeting Kerala’s cooperative banks, hospitals, and chit funds have surged, exploiting IT vulnerabilities. Foreign hackers, especially from China and Pakistan, use techniques like SQL injection to steal data, often putting it on the dark web. Recently, the Regional Cancer Centre in Thiruvananthapuram faced a severe cyber-attack.

3. The government Action action against parcel scams and urges citizens to Report Suspected Calls on a cybercrime Website
India is combating a growing fake parcel scam where victims are extorted through spoofed calls and social media, impersonating law enforcement. The government, through I4C and DoT, is blocking these calls and collaborating with Microsoft to prevent logo misuse. Scammers posing as law enforcement use call spoofing to extort money by claiming victims face a “digital arrest” for fabricated crimes. They contact victims via Indian phone numbers and social media, demanding payment through various channels. I4C has reported 1,500 fraudulent Skype IDs to Microsoft.

A district judge from Solapur was duped of Rs 50,000 by a scammer using a Bombay High Court judge’s photo as a WhatsApp display picture. The judge transferred the money without verifying, becoming suspicious after more demands. He confirmed the scam with the High Court registrar’s office.

5. Pune Cyber Police Register Case Over Offensive Instagram Reel on Porsche Car Accident
Pune Cyber Police filed a case against an offensive Instagram reel related to the Kalyaninagar accident, containing obscene remarks about women. The investigation, led by Senior Inspector Suresh Shinde, involves technical analysis and awaits Instagram’s response to identify the perpetrators. The case involves multiple high-ranking police officials.

6. Ransomware Attack Hits Affiliated Dermatologists, Impacting 370K Individuals
Affiliated Dermatologists suffered a ransomware attack by BianLian, exposing personal data of 370,000 individuals, including names, birth dates, Social Security numbers, and medical information. AD has employed cybersecurity specialists, disconnected network access, and offers free credit monitoring and identity theft protection to affected individuals. BianLian has targeted 196 organizations in the past year.

7. Experts Discover Flaw in Replicate AI Service Exposing Customer Models and Data
Cybersecurity researchers discovered a critical flaw in Replicate’s AI-as-a-service platform, allowing unauthorized access to proprietary AI models and sensitive data. Exploiting this vulnerability enabled remote code execution and cross-tenant attacks. The flaw, disclosed in January 2024, has been fixed, with no evidence of data compromise.

8. Cybercriminals Use Cloud Storage for SMS Phishing Scams
