Sextortion: Mumbai Businessman Cheated Of Rs 32000 After Visiting Porn Website

MUMBAI: A businessman from Bandra (West) who was 83 years old became the latest victim of sextortion and ended up paying Rs 32,000.

On Tuesday, the Bandra police filed an FIR. The victim is in the business of importing and exporting, and he was targeted after he visited a porn site. Soon, he saw a message on his screen, and then his computer stopped working.

The message had a warning sign with the police logo that said he would be arrested if he didn’t pay Rs 29,000 within 24 hours.

The victim, who lives in Bandra Bandstand, went to the site on October 29 and made the payment.

“When the victim went to the bank to look at his statement, he saw that the money had been sent to MERD/ PAYU GURGAON/ 3786 instead of the police account. We have asked for information about the account holder to whom the money was sent so that we can make an arrest “said a police officer at the Bandra station.

The businessman said the following in his complaint: “After a message with a police symbol popped up on my computer screen while I was watching the porn site, I ended up paying the money. The warning said that watching a pornographic movie is against the law and could get you fined up to Rs 5 lakh. You have one day to pay Rs 29,000. If you don’t, you will be arrested.”

“I got scared of getting arrested, so I sent Rs 32,000 right away using my debit card. I found out later that I had been tricked, “the victim told the police in his complaint.
