Cyber Studies: UGC Launches Undergraduate And Graduate Levels Cyber Security Courses

NEW DELHI: UGC Chairman Professor M Jagadesh Kumar announced the curriculum for the Cyber Security programme at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Announcements were made during a webinar hosted by University Grant Commission (UGC) to commemorate Cyber Jaagrookta Diwas on October 6. The event was live-streamed on UGC’s social media accounts.

Professor Kumar said Cyber Security program’s curriculum strives to develop more informed, responsive, and responsible digital citizens, thereby effectively contributing to an overall healthy cyber security posture and ecosystem.

Kumar further stated that Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) may engage Cyber Security, Computer, IT qualified professors or professionals from the industry or subject matter experts to take the lectures, practicals, and tutorials for these courses at the UG and PG levels.

Deepak Virmani, Deputy Secretary, Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (14C), Ministry of Home Affairs, and his team also gave a presentation on Cybercrime Prevention and Cyber Hygiene Adoption. The talk focused on securing digital personal finance, social media mindfulness, anticipated future cyber threats, cyber hygiene, securing digital personal finance, email security, mobile and internet security, and computer security.

Professor Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Vice Chairman, UGC, stated that establishing cyber awareness and sensitising our internet users on how to protect themselves from cyberattacks is critical at this time. He also congratulated the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (14C) personnel and all those who participated digitally.
