Chinese Scammers Mastermind Behind Rs 3,000 Crores Part-Time Job Fraud: Senior IPS Prof. Triveni Singh

NEW DELHI: Senior IPS officer Prof Triveni Singh exposed the Chinese nexus behind Rs 3,000 crore part-time job scams targeting Indians at the National Conference on Cyber Safety and National Security (Azadi from Cyber Crime – Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav) in New Delhi on Monday.

Recently, Uttar Pradesh’s cybercrime police under the supervision of Prof Triveni Singh, SP, Cyber Crime busted a Rs 3,000 crore part-time employment scam network. The investigation is unique in all sense as it looks into various cryptocurrency accounts and exchanges, as well as shell firms operating in foreign countries.

Prof Singh explained how his team investigated and tracked the multi-country scam being operated by Chinese fraudsters. He said that scammers were misusing DLT platform created to control bulk SMS service providers.

Prof Singh also explained how Fintech banking conduits are being exploited by foreign scamsters to defraud innocent Indians in name of part time jobs and instant loan apps.

The National Conference was inaugurated by Home Minister Amit Shah, who also highlighted the importance of cyber security and India’s progress in digitization.

Amit Shah highlighted that it is impossible to foresee India’s development without cyber security. Today, India is progressing in every sphere solely thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s effort. If we do not ensure cyber security, our own strength will become a significant obstacle. That is why this programme was created to identify cyber security concerns and solutions in the age of the digital revolution, as well as to make cyber security knowledge available to everyone.

The Union Home Minister stated that nowadays, public awareness is the most crucial pillar in the vision of a Cyber Safe India since it cannot be used without awareness. That is why public awareness, public interest, and efforts in the public interest to find solutions to technological issues, and ultimately public welfare, are important.

According to Amit Shah, we should endeavour to bring cyber security to every region of the country. Through this initiative, efforts have been made to raise public awareness through various means such as cyber cleanliness, cyber crime prevention measures, the popularisation of a crime reporting webpage, and the popularisation of a cyber financial crime reporting helpline number.

He stated that the misuse of cyberspace is nothing new. There are other challenges, such as virus attacks, phishing, attacks on vital infrastructure, data thefts, online frauds, and child pornography.

According to the Union Home Minister, cyber security is linked to national security. Those who do not want our country to be safe also try various forms of cyber-attacks. Some countries have even formed cyber-armies. However, the Government of India’s Ministry of Home Affairs is perfectly prepared to cope with these risks and is modernising itself to prevent them. He predicted that many new dimensions of cyber fraud would emerge in the future days, and that we would need to make several preparations in terms of cyber space security.
