Jilted Lover Arrested For Intimidating Girl By Forwarding Incoming Calls To Noida Police Commissioner’s Number

NOIDA: A 20-year-jilted lover first troubled the girl by sending repeated messages then to scare her family members he diverted their calls to the number of Noida Police Commissioner Alok Singh.  The man had put a display image of the police commissioner on his WhatsApp and Truecaller app to appear genuine.

Surajpur police have now arrested Deepak, an Agra native.

An FIR was filed on August 16 at the Surajpur police station in Noida after the PRO of Police Commissioner Alok Singh filed a complaint.

The accused, who previously worked in Noida, relocated to Agra this year. There, he met a woman and proposed her but she turned down his advances for a love relationship. Her brother had also learned about it.

Despite a warning from the woman and her brother to not call him, the man continued regular calls and messaged her. When the family used to call him to stop making calls, he re-routed incoming calls to the police commissioner’s phone number in order to scare them and create a powerful impression of himself, said a senior official.

According to police, the accused, a Class 10 pass holder who is currently unemployed, had also uploaded the name and profile picture of the police commissioner on the Truecaller app to support his fraud.

“The accused has been arrested and imprisoned. He was a jilted lover who did all of this to give the impression of his connections and to scare the woman and her family, who had previously scolded him for his activities,” said a senior police officer.

Deepak has been charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code as well as provisions of the Information Technology Act.
