NEW DELHI: Sextortion cases via WhatsApp calls have been witnessing a worrying surge, with cyber police finding it challenging to contain such incidents. The latest victim of this alarming trend is Union Minister Prahlad Singh Patel, who fell prey to a sextortion call on WhatsApp. Promptly responding to the situation, the Minister filed a complaint with the Delhi Police crime branch, leading to the arrest of two individuals from Bharatpur district, Rajasthan.

Quick Action by Police Results in Arrests

Upon receiving the complaint, the Delhi Police crime branch wasted no time in launching a full-fledged investigation. Their swift efforts culminated in the arrest of two suspects, identified as Mohd Vakeel and Mohd Sahib, who are believed to be members of a notorious sextortion gang. However, the prime suspect, Sabir, remains at large as the manhunt intensifies.

According to the complaint filed by the Minister’s personal secretary, Alok Mohan, the accused dialed Patel directly through WhatsApp. During the call, they played a pornographic video in an attempt to blackmail the Minister. However, Patel, demonstrating resilience and composure, promptly ended the call and immediately informed the police about the incident.
